Whether you are planning or traveling to business meetings, you know that holidays and existing international events have a way of influencing the schedule. That’s why we maintain our international 2012 calendar with holidays and events. And this year’s calendar is larger than ever.

Keeping an events calendar helps any event planner or business traveler avoid scheduling conflicts with other obligations. Use our calendar as a source of inspiration for your travels and programs to events such as the Super Bowl, London 2012 Olympics or La Merce in Barcelona, among others. If you can’t travel directly to these or other major events, you could consider creating related themed events and hospitality for your own programs.

I notice that the calendar has many US, Mexico, and UK events. Many of us go to other places and I for one would like to see Russia and Colombia events added. I know there are as many people who read this also have their frequently traveled places too. Maybe you can make an interactive calendar where we can add our own calendar events as well as the delete function already there?

Thank you for your comment. We have tried to build a comprehensive list of holidays that are observed around the world, and a cross section of various types of events. You’ll notice that our list currently reflects holidays and events within Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific. We’d be happy to add to it, and go in more depth on additional countries. To clarify our approach, we establish and maintain relationships with various destinations around the world that we believe will appeal to the business travel community. Therefore, we also tend to post items related to markets that reflect our expertise — it’s a way to help ensure we provide the most useful information for our readers. Please feel free to send an email with your suggestions and we’ll consider it. We want to expand our list of programs that gain international attention right here (and for future years). However, if something isn’t a fit for this list we will also be posting a monthly blog of various events throughout the year — the posts will publish about two weeks before the start of each month. Please feel free to add comments directly onto those monthly calendar announcements. Even local events will have a much greater chance of receiving automatic approvals, and that will be the primary intent of our monthly post (we really want to encourage the community to share what they know). In the meantime, I’ll focus some time in the coming weeks on Russia and Columbia as requested.

      Cheers,
      Rob
