While we travel and share insights about the best cities, places to stay and things to do, Chicago is our home — the South Loop. It’s one of Chicago’s best neighborhoods to walk and explore. So we decided to go in depth here and share that with you. And that’s why we created the Chicago South Loop Explorers Meetup (check our schedule there). We love walking cities and we want to share the best that our own neighborhood has to offer — a social group based on Meetup rules with friends and neighbors.
We will change up the path each time and ask everyone to share a favorite story along the way. We want to keep it a bit healthy, so we’ll try to get in 5,000 steps (that’s about 2.5 miles). We’ll also stop at a couple places along the way and ask local experts to share their insights about how they help make this neighborhood special – the architecture, restaurants, bars, shops, museums, river, Lake Michigan, parks, sports, development and more. This meetup group is for our neighbors who live in the South Loop and everyone else who wants to get to know the South Loop better — including travelers who visit Chicago!
Where We’ll Go
The South Loop includes Congress on the north, Canal on the west, Cermak on the south (as well as Motor Row) and Lake Michigan on the east. We have Printer’s Row, the lakefront, Museum Campus, Soldier Field, the Prairie District, McCormick Place, Wabash Corridor, Dearborn Park, Northerly Island and soon we’ll have 78, among others. There’s a lot to see and experience here and we’ll go behind the scenes along the way. We will also elbow our way a bit into the surrounding neighborhoods that border the South Loop from time to time, such as downtown, the west loop and Chinatown (to get the full experience).
What Do You Want to See?
Let me know where you want to walk and what you want to get to know here. The South Loop is one of Chicago’s most vibrant neighborhoods and it just keeps getting better every year.
Check us out on Meetup and let us know what you’d like to see. We’ll do our best to make it happen.
