The U.S. Department of State has developed an online application for U.S. Passport (DS-11 form). U.S. passport fees are $135 for adults (renewal are $110) and $105 for minors; expedited services cost $160 (effective July 13, 2010).
For those who are renewing their U.S. passport, you must complete Form DS-82 application (available online) and may be mailed.
U.S. citizens who are applying for a passport for the first time may not complete the DS-11 form online. Other passport exceptions to this process include the following:
