Throughout the year, the airline miles and hotel stays add up for business travelers and others. Whether it’s using point programs or simply the desire to choose your own spot for a getaway, personal summer travel is a welcome change. And for the eighth year in a row, Orlando and Las Vegas remain the most popular summer destinations in the USA, according to a 2010 survey released by the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA).

So among those who are traveling, what are the top 10 most poular summer travel destinations in the U.S.? ASTA identifies them as follows:

  1. Orlando, FL (17.7%)
  2. Las Vegas, NV (16.2%)
  3. San Francisco, CA (4.9%)
  4. Miami, FL
  5. Las Angeles, CA
  6. New York City
  7. San Diego, CA
  8. Honolulu, HI
  9. Seattle, WA
  10. Washington, DC

Florida again tops the state destinations for the 2010 summer season, accounting for 24.5 percent of all responses with cities such as Orlando, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa. Nevada drew the second largest number of responses a 16.3-percent share with almost all the travel for Las Vegas. California (15.6%), New York (12.9%) and Hawaii (8.9%) rounded out the top five state destinations for summer travel.
