I’m a fan of high-end toiletries — shampoos, lotions, face and body washes when traveling. Testing out these amenities at hotels is a great way to know if I will want to spend money on them at home. And Molton Brown is one of those brands. I’ve stayed at many hotels that offer Molton Brown, such as the Waldorf London and Grand Velas Riviera Maya.

Molton Brown is based — and made — in London, but you’ll find it all over the world. Their products are sophisticated and expertly blended. And if you’ve tried their travel-sized bottles somewhere on the road, you’ll likely agree.
What you may have discovered in your hotel room is just the beginning. Molton Brown offers a range of grooming products for men, including body wash, skin care, shampoo, shaving products, kits and even a gym bag collection.
Molton Brown Black Peppercorn Body Wash
While they make products with a few different fragrances, the signature line for men is the black pepper collection. And it’s good for year-round use.
This is a spicy body wash. The fragrance has a base note of aromatic vetiver (earthy, woodsy and cooling). It has a top note of coriander (sweet, spicy and warm). And black peppercorns serve as the middle note (strong and spicy), bringing together the other two aromas and enhancing the overall scent.
Just a little bit of the body wash goes a long way. It lathers up nicely, and it will leave your skin clean and lightly scented for the day.
Molton Brown Face Wash for Men
When you use this next to the peppercorn body wash, the scent is much lighter and subtle by comparison. It has a base note of of musk, sandalwood (hydrating qualities) and vanilla. The top note is mandarin and the middle notes are jasmine (relaxing) and violet (sweet).
The face wash is a clear gel that’s appropriate for normal to oily skin. It’s blended with extracts of African whitewood (light background) which helps to take away a bit of the shine you don’t want on your skin.
Molton Brown suggests that you should use this in the morning and at night. I used this with my Clarisonic device, and felt it produced nice results.
The Verdict?
To me, Molton Brown is the quintessential English toiletry of choice. Molton Brown’s face wash is a pleasant product, and I particularly enjoy the black peppercorn scent of the body wash. Molton Brown has an established reputation for selecting the best quality products from around the world. They use naturally-derived ingredients from sustainable sources, so you can feel good that the product you use is being replenished. Speaking of which, their bottles are also made of 100% recyclable plastics. And Molton Brown has never performed tests on animals.
