DOHA, Qatar – The newly-opened Hilton Doha yesterday hosted, for the first time, the monthly meeting of Qatar Concierge Society (QCS). The prestigious Les Clef d’Or, was also represented at the event with two past Presidents in attendance at the event.

Also known as the Union Internationale des Concierges d’Hôtels (UICH), the Les Clef d’Or (The Golden Keys) is the world’s pre-eminent society for concierges, with chapters in 45 countries and 4,000 members. The society promotes cooperation and friendship between members to assist international travellers and tourists in providing a memorable experience that combines the local knowledge and recommendation with a world class concierge service.

The international delegation was headed by Denis O’Brien from Ireland and Robert Watson from Washington, D.C. – past Presidents and members of the Committe de Sage (Executive Board Committee). The meeting was attended by local concierges, from chief to senior concierges, from the city’s top hotels including Hilton Doha. The agenda for the meeting included training and community service opportunities for the concierge community as well as information sharing on the city including new areas of interest for tourists. The society also discussed the May 2012 visit of the Les Clef d’Or Virginia Casale and the First Vice President Emmanuel Vrettos during which they conducted the official assessment of the Qatar Concierge Society, following their application for an independent chapter.

Following the meeting, Qatar Concierge Society – Les Clefs d’Or members was hosted by Ahmed Allazim – Head Concierge of Hilton Doha – on a tour of the hotel, followed by a dinner at La Sahtaine.

“It was a privilege to host QCS Meeting and its members at the hotel. As a society dedicated to raising standards within the industry, QCS is driven by a genuine desire to serve and promote cooperation amongst concierges. The organization is proof that when people of calibre, across brands and geography, work together as a team, the overall quality of the industry goes up. As a young hotel in Doha, it was inspiring for us to experience first-hand the passion and enthusiasm they embody as it was invaluable for us to get their feedback,” said Andreas Searty, general manger, Hilton Doha.

“Hilton Doha was gracious in hosting the meeting and as an international hotel chain, it has added to Doha’s growing hospitality industry. It has also given us the opportunity to recommend the services they offer to travellers to Doha” said Qatar Concierge Society – QCS Executive Committee.

Located on the upscale Corniche area of the city, Hilton Doha marked the entry of Hilton Worldwide in Qatar. The 309-room hotel is also home to the first eforea: spa at Hilton in the Middle East and the first Trader Vic’s in Qatar.
