April 12, 2013 ─ Spring forward into an event that highlights emerging electronic music and digital creativity. Montréal’s MUTEK festival takes place from May 29 to June 3, 2013.
For this 14th edition, MUTEK dominates the Quartier des spectacles once again, with events and performances at a variety of venues in the neighbourhood, including the SAT (Society for Arts and Technology), the Monument-National, and the new Maison symphonique de Montréal, Montréal’s latest architectural wonder. Other sites include the Metropolis, a longstanding festival collaborator, and Parc Jean-Drapeau where the Piknic Électronik dance party brings music lovers together on an open-air dance floor with absolutely awesome views of the city and its surroundings.
Among the artists confirmed for the event this year are The Field and John Tejada, who join Michael Mayer and Saschienne on the festival’s opening night for a celebration of Kompakt’s 20th anniversary. Brandt Brauer Frick presents the North American premiere of a new live show, and Laurel Halo, John Roberts, Space Dimension Controller, and Lukid are just some of the artists making their MUTEK debuts. Closing the festival are Pantha du Prince the Bell Laboratory, and a new collaborative project, Borderland, featuring Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald.
Music, video, multi-screen installations, and much more are on the program for this highly-anticipated awakening of sounds and sights.
