Technology certainly helps make business travel easier, but if an app can help us save time when we’re on the road, that’s even better. And when I’m running late for the airport, I feel rushed when I have to search out a find a ‘grab and go’ restaurant, selecting an item from the menu and then waiting anxiously for the food before running to the gate.
A few weeks ago I discovered AirGrub, a new mobile app that helps us place an order for food at the airport — anytime before arriving — and then just picking up the order before arriving at the gate. And that helps solve the challenge of finding a healthy dining option when you don’t have a lot of time before your flight at the airport.
AirGrub currently launched for use at restaurants in the domestic terminals of San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Boston Logan (BOS) — plus the company is in discussions with other locations.
AirGrub is a free mobile app that can be downloaded from the iTunes store (Apple devices) and Google play (for Android devices). And AirGrub is currently offering a $4 discount on your first order.
Because I recently had an early morning flight home through SFO, I had the perfect opportunity to try it. The day prior to my flight, I used AirGrub to order steak and eggs from Yankee Pier, a California seafood eatery and the app’s restaurant partner in terminal 3. To be honest, even their breakfast menu had a variety of options to choose.
And when I had to change the order at the last minute, a service rep responded immediately.
After arriving in the terminal, it was easy to find Yankee Pier because of AirGrub’s prominent and bright orange sign. I mentioned to the hostess about my order and she quickly brought it over to take away. It was so simple and straightforward, and I even got a text from AirGrub asking if everything went well.
The Verdict?
AirGrub combines convenience with ease of use into an app. If you are a business traveler on the go, I would certainly recommend AirGrub for your use at these two airports.
