Puebla, Mexico, was the host city in December for the 20th edition of MITM Americas, Meetings & Incentive Travel Market — a 3-day M.I.C.E. event — and the 6th edition of CULTOURFAIR, International Culture Travel Fair. The program ended with resounding success.
BusinessTravelDestinations.com was one of among a vetted group of journalists and more than 250 buyers from 39 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, UK, Ukraine, Uruguay and USA.
All VIP buyers specialized in MICE: corporate and incentive travel end-users, incentive houses, incentive travel agencies, marketing companies, international congresses, meetings and events organizers, tour operators, cultural travel buyers, and specialized cultural travel agencies.
The annual fair took place at the Centro Expositor Puebla, where buyers sat down one-on-one with exhibitors for a total of 4,795 business appointments, generating an estimated more than $234,908,973 in short and long term business. The annual fair is exclusively for business professionals and closed to the public, and the number of exhibitors never exceeds the number of buyers.
The delegates were treated to several spectacular events in one of Mexico’s most magical cities, Puebla, beginning with a spectacular fireworks show at the Lago de La Concordia.
As the host of the event, the local tourism board of the State of Puebla introduced the delegates to the city’s culinary wealth, tourist attractions, infrastructure investments, the richness of its culture, and the beauty of this great destination.

During a press event, the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Puebla, Roberto Trauwitz Echeguren, acknowledged the high level of hosted buyers and thanked the participants for allowing his great state to give them a glimpse of the possibilities of Puebla, pointing to the fact that “the transformation of the State is a result of the commitment of this administration to turn this entity into a unique destination of its kind”.
An annual event, the MITM Americas is the oldest interactive and international M.I.C.E. travel fair held in the Americas and the Caribbean, and each year the host destination changes. The 2014 edition was the first held in Puebla, and the sixth in Mexico. CULTOURFAIR is another pioneering international fair, specializing in commercialization and promotion of cultural destinations, exclusively for business professionals in this market.
Both fairs are organized by GSAR Marketing, a global sales, marketing and communication company, part of the Convenco Group, the first Incentive House in Spain.
