The Puerto Rico Convention Bureau is pleased to announce the appointment of Joyce Martínez as Director of Business Development and Research for the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau.

With a long-standing relationship with the Bureau, Ms. Martínez most recently served as a marketing and research consultant for the organization. Prior to that, she was an employee of the Bureau. During her ten year tenure with the organization, she served as Associate Vice President of Strategic Marketing Research, Director of Sales and Marketing for the U.S. Hispanic and Latin America Markets and was a Manager of Member Affairs. She also worked as a Government Relations Coordinator for the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in D.C.

Her experience and knowledge of our market and current meeting and convention industry trends is a huge asset in terms of our strategic outlooks and forward-thinking initiatives,” stated Neil J. Mullanaphy, acting president and CEO, Puerto Rico Convention Bureau. “Her experience in marketing, sales and membership services for the Bureau provide us with a wealth of institutional knowledge and know-how that will greatly benefit the Bureau as well as the island’s meetings market in her new role.”

Martínez holds a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs with a minor in Anthropology as well as a master’s degree in International Business and Commerce specializing in International Marketing Research from George Mason University, Virginia. She is an advisor for the Latin American market for Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), the top industry association dedicated to the role of destination marketing and has been an invited instructor of George Washington University’s International Institute of Tourism Studies. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Business Administration.
