Congress Frankfurt signs declaration of support for the “right and fair” sustainability code. The code of the German event industry sets out guidelines of corporate responsibility for sustainability in event
organisation. These guidelines were initiated by the German Convention Bureau (GCB) and the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC) last year.

“We are following this code to demonstrate our support for the comprehensive quality standard in the congress industry,” said Claudia Delius-Fisher, Director Congress Frankfurt. Messe Frankfurt places considerable importance on sustainable business management as well as social responsibility. Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) is, therefore, an established element of the corporate philosophy which is reflected in the activities of all company divisions.

At Messe Frankfurt, CSR represents responsible business management and includes economic as well as ecological and social aspects. CSR commitment focuses on the environment / sustainability, social responsibility, education / science and cultural commitment.

With its participation in the UN Global Compact since 2010, Messe Frankfurt is the first German trade fair company to document its CSR commitment. Together with more than 10,000 further participants, Messe Frankfurt acknowledges its adherence to the ten principles in the areas of human rights, labour, anti-corruption and the environment.

The Kap Europa was the first event building in the world to receive the pre-certificate in gold of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for its high ecological standards. The new standard was developed upon the initiative of Messe Frankfurt and takes the entire life cycle of the building into consideration.

Messe Frankfurt employs numerous ecologically sustainable measures at its site – for example in the areas of energy and recyclable material management as well as logistics and transport. Furthermore,
the site‘s convenient location as well as its excellent public transport connections offer congress and trade fair visitors the ideal conditions for an environmentally friendly arrival.

Importance is also placed on environmentally friendly business management at the company’s subsidiary, Accente Gastronomie Service GmbH. Here this process begins already in buying and produce is
largely regional. Furthermore, disposable packing as well as foods containing colourings, preservatives and additives are also avoided wherever possible.
