BELL GARDENS, Calif., Dec. 3, 2014
BELL GARDENS, Calif., Dec. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bicycle Casino Community Foundation in collaboration with The City of Bell Gardens and Senator Ricardo Lara are excited to host the 2nd Annual Home for the Holidays. This program was created to offer support during the holidays for low-income families in the Bell Gardens community. 260 families were selected this year and will attend an event on Saturday, December 20th where the kids will get to meet and take a photo with Santa, enjoy carnival rides and receive toys. The families will also have lunch and receive a $50 gift certificate from a local market, a winter blanket and a Christmas tree.
"We are humbled and truly appreciative of our partners, The City of Bell Gardens, Senator Ricardo Lara and The Bicycle Casino." said Julieann Coyne, Executive Director of The Bicycle Casino Community Foundation, "It takes a lot of collaboration and support to be able to continue important and necessary programs like Home for the Holidays that benefit the low-income families of Bell Gardens. We can't wait to see the families again this year!"
The Home for the Holidays program came to fruition in 2013 as an extension of The Bicycle Casino's annual Children's Christmas Event, which has been held for the community for the last 18 years. Due to the start of construction for The Bicycle Casino & Hotel in 2013, the annual event had to be moved off property, but the purpose still remains the same - to provide assistance and give a bit of holiday cheer for the low-income families of Bell Gardens. Due to the generous assistance of The Bicycle Casino, The Foundation and its partners are able to continue this time-honored event for the community as Home for the Holidays.
The Bicycle Casino Community Foundation was formed in 2012 to provide funding for programs benefiting youth in the surrounding community. The primary focus of the foundation is the health, education and welfare of the children. They have established scholarship programs that assist graduating high school students on their way to an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
