NH Hotels is a Spanish-owned hotel brand that’s one of the largest in Europe and now has almost 400 hotels worldwide. It’s definitely popular with business travelers, and the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding (premium brand) is its flagship property in the heart of Madrid’s financial district. It closed for an intense, three-month renovation and reopened in October 2014. The result? An ultra-contemporary hotel that embraces technology throughout your stay. The NH Eurobuilding is also just a couple blocks from Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, home to Real Madrid (and where the players stay before a game).

One of the first things you’ll immediately notice when you look up in the lobby at the NH Eurobuilding is a 3,230 square foot, semi-transparent, indoor LED domed screen – one of the largest you’ll find in a hotel. It can be programmed to project images, it changes color, and it’s equipped with spatial sound. All of this really adds to the energy level in the vibrant lobby.

And the hotel is one of the more popular spots for larger business meetings and events – not to mention the neighborhood locals and the after work crowds who take advantage of the dining and lobby lounge options.

Guest Rooms at NH Eurobuilding

The hotel has 431 rooms – 276 superior rooms (365 square feet), 96 premium rooms (365 square feet), 13 premium with views (430 square feet), 20 premium with balconies and city views (430 square feet), six junior suites (1,185 square feet) and one Presidential Suite (1,615 square feet).

The rooms are contemporary, combining warm and vibrant colors into the rooms’ bright white palette – all enhanced by LED lighting. The bed is extremely comfortable (also accented by LED lighting below the bed), there’s plenty of room for you to get your work done at the desk, and for those who enjoy their coffee, they have Nespresso machines. You’ll really enjoy the bathrooms. They are enclosed by glass that can be closed off or remain open in view to the room. By the way, the rain shower heads are amazing. NH uses its own line of bath amenities which have a subtle, green tea scent (nice).

In keeping with NH Eurobuilding’s technology theme, the hotel also offers “living lab” rooms. If you’re interested in experiencing some of the most current technologies, NH Eurobuilding will be testing it in these rooms.

Dining at NH Eurobuilding

You’ll also find some of Madrid’s best dining experience at the NH Eurobuilding. Food lovers should quickly recognize David Muñoz’ DiverXO, the only restaurant in Madrid with three Michelin stars.

You’ll also find DOMO by Roncero & Cabrera, an avantgard restaurant whose chef was mentored by Paco Roncero. If you’re interest is cocktails, you’ll want to check out DOMO Lounge & Terrace by Diego Cabrera – which is a great spot to relax at the end of the day. And for a change, there’s 99 Sushi Bar, a Japanese restaurant that specializes in Asian cuisine.

The main floor has some of Madrid’s best dining experiences, including the 3 Michelin-starred DiverXO, DOMO by Roncero (2 Michelin-stars with La Tarraza del Casino deMadrid) & Cabrera, a 99 Sushi Bar and DOMO Lounge & Terrace by Cabrera. It seems that DOMO Lounge & Terrace is a great spot to relax at the end of the day.

Breakfast is at Praga, a modern space with a central buffet and stations where you can have breakfast items cooked to order. It has all of the traditional Spanish breakfast items you’d expect. It also has international choices, and is one of the larger buffets you’ll find at a business hotel. But what was really impressive is that Prada also maintains a small number of gluten-free items as well.

NH Eurobuilding for Meetings & Events

NH updated the capabilities of its 84,000 square feet of meeting space. It has 32 meeting rooms and can hold up to 1,000 people. What’s cool is that they have a revolutionary holographic 3-D telepresence capability that allows high quality video and audio communication between participants. Up to 250 people can be remotely present. The hotel also has TV monitors, video walls and fog screens (all great for your event logo or message). NH Eurobuilding has an in-house audiovisual services team along with several technology partners.

Other Amenities at NH Eurobuilding Madrid

The hotel is into health and wellness. As many of you probably know, I’m a fan of hotels with spas and fitness centers; however, I didn’t have time to use either on this trip. But the gym is one of the more impressive sizes you’ll encounter on the road, and it’s free to guests. It has 55 machines, weights, personal training services, a sauna and changing facilities. The Elysium Spa has a swimming pool, other innovative features like ice cabins and, of course, a full range of massages and beauty treatments. There’s also three outdoor tennis courts.

The Verdict?

I have to say that I do enjoy staying in lively business hotels that are contemporary and offer a full range of amenities. The NH Collection Eurobuilding Madrid delivers on this. Technology is important to meeting planners and business travelers alike, and the NH Eurobuilding was designed with this in mind. Plus, it has excellent WiFi access throughout the hotel. If you’re looking for a hotel in the business area, you’ll be pleased.
