Give Yourself Some Time When Traveling for Business
Blue skies, 55F degrees at the end of November, and a spectacular panoramic view on the rooftop deck of a top business hotel on the Mediterranean coast – I’ll take it all. I arrived two days before EIBTM in Barcelona, Spain, to adjust to the time schedule. But more importantly, I just wanted a little extra time in the Catalunya capital of Spain.
I stepped out from my cab yesterday onto the Gaudi tiles that line the sidewalk of Passeig de Gracia and into the entrance at Majestic Hotel & Spa. This is my third trip to Barcelona and second stay at Majestic, so it's a good bet to say that I enjoy both.
Hotel Majestic is centrally located. Its neoclassical façade prepares you for what can expect inside: a unique, five star hotel (grand luxe – Spain’s highest rating) that is classically designed in marble and shades of creams, browns, burgundy and mahogany wood. There’s a spa that I haven’t had a chance to see, yet.
In the evening, after wandering down La Ramblas and a little bit into the old town, I went to Tenorio for dinner on the recommendation of my hotel (part of the Cacheiro Restaurants, and a consideration for groups looking for casual dining). It was just two blocks away on Passeig de Gracia and on the same block where Casa Battlo is located.
A glass of red wine, pan con tomate (tomato bread with garlic and olive oil), and my own simple request for grilled chicken with some mixed vegetables. This is a great way to settle into Barcelona!
Oh yea, EIBTM – the reason I’m here. The hectic schedule ahead – guess it's time to adjust and focus on the conference ... the reason I’m here.
Let me know if you have any questions about EIBTM.
