Description:
Primary focus is on EventVenuesDirectory.com and EventJobsBoard.com for the BusinessTravelDestinations.com brand. The Advertising Sales Director is an independent consultant who is responsible for selling ads and developing packages for online advertising clients – direct advertisers and ad agencies. He is she must build and maintain a customer base of advertising accounts. This position is local, national and international in scope, and will be integral to achieving revenue goals. Strategies must be created for North America, EMEA, Asia-Pacific and South America over time.
Responsibilities:
The Advertising Sales Director will meet sales quotas on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This person must have the ability to create national campaign objectives and ensure that proposals achieve the interests of all parties.
- Develop, implement and manage the advertising strategy for site (pre- and post-sale), including market-level campaigns that will grow advertising support.
- Identify and manage accounts through all phases of the selling process, including seeking out new and qualified advertisers, closing the sale, obtaining relevant artwork, and managing the client relationship through retention.
- Contribute to the development of sales and marketing materials, including media kits, and negotiate agreements with site advertisers.
- Seek out new and qualified advertisers, positioning the value of our site to advertisers and maintaining relationships with advertisers.
- Provide monthly/quarterly/annual sales status report, and provide feedback to others in BusinessTravelDestinations.com for the purpose of maximizing sales efforts.
- Provide prospect and client activity via sales activity management reports.
- Advertising Sales Director must remain current with online media sales trends, recommend new advertising strategies, and maintain expertise on issues/topics within the business travel industry.
- Advertising Sales Director will contribute occasional posts and articles to BusinessTravelDestinations.com.
- As site evolves, we envision the advertising director to oversee 2-3 independent sales representatives to achieve long term goals.
- Of course, there will be “other duties as assigned”.
RH Communications, Inc., also provides clients with marketing communications expertise, including collateral, direct marketing, newsletters, promotional gifts, printing solutions and more. Consideration may be given to the right candidate for opportunities in sales management for these account services in the future.
Requirements:
5+ years experience in advertising sales, which must include digital direct sales and experience with selling to agencies. Network of “current” contacts with agencies, ability to establish new client relationships – primary focus on direct sales. Creative thinker able to establish new prospects and possess strong follow up skills. Self-motivated, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong presentation skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe products, strong attention to detail, excellent analytical and reasoning skills, and ability to work in a small team environment.
Preference for candidates and firms that also specialize in the business travel, meetings or hospitality space.
